Zoltán Györkő, Co-founder of the company, was named CEO of Balabit on 1 September 2012. He has been a member of the board since the company was founded in 2000.
Zoltán has extensive leadership experience and a deep knowledge of the IT security market, and was previously responsible for developing Balabit’s global partner network as well as the sales and marketing organization. Today Balabit is active in 40 countries through its 100 partners and has representatives in 8 countries.
Zoltán received the Emerging Entrepreneur Award from E&Y in 2014 for leading one of the most successful and dynamically growing companies in Eastern Europe. The same year he was named the Info-communications Manager of the Year (Tibor Gyurós Prize).
Zoltán studied computer engineering at University of Pannonia, Veszprém.
Balázs Scheidler is Co-founder and CTO, and the inventor of Balabit's leading technology products. Balázs has worked in IT security and software engineering for almost two decades.
As the initiator of numerous Linux related projects, he is regarded by members of the open source community as subject matter expert. He is regularly invited to present at international events and conferences since his syslog-ng is used is used in more than a million installations worldwide, including several Linux distributions and a default log collection tool in Amazon Kindle Fire and BMW i3 All-Electric Vehicles.
Balázs was named the Info-communications Manager of the Year (Tibor Gyurós Prize) in 2011. In 2012 he received László Kalmár Prize from the John Neumann Computer Society for his notable contributions to computer usability and science.
Balázs earned a degree in computer engineering from University of Pannonia, Veszprém.
Endre Wagner is Co-founder and Senior Vice President of Services at Balabit. Currently, he is responsible for Balabit’s professional services, IT, security, and support teams. Endre also holds the Chairman position at EULMT.
Endre has 20 years of experience in IT security. Prior to joining Balabit, he worked for Magyar Telekom and was responsible for setting up its national inquiry system and building network security infrastructure. During his years at Balabit, he's been involved in and provided expertise for several projects, including the set up of VPN architecture at K&H Bank and creation of perimeter security for NISZ ( National Infocommunications Service Company).
Endre graduated from University of Pannonia, Veszprém with Master's degree in Information Science.
Matthew Ravden joined Balabit in 2016 as Chief Marketing Officer. He is responsible for executing Balabit's global marketing strategy.
Matthew spent the first part of his career as a communications consultant after joining B2B tech agency Text 100. He went on to found Bite in 1995 and then returned to Text 100 to build out the agency’s Asia Pac business, based out of Sydney. During that time, he worked on most of the group’s marquee tech clients, including Microsoft, HP, Apple, Oracle, IBM and Intel.
Prior to joining Balabit, Matthew worked as a Communications Director at fast-growth cloud start-up Mimecast, and was promoted to Chief Strategy Officer in 2012, overseeing global marketing, including internal and external comms, inbound marketing & lead generation, web and digital marketing, analyst relations and product marketing.
Peter O'Neill heads up the sales team within Balabit as Senior Vice President of Sales. In this role he is responsible for all sales operations across the US, Western and Eastern Europe. Balabit is the fourth VC-backed European start-up company that Peter has been involved in over the past 16 years. As SVP of Sales at Searchspace, a London-based anti-money laundering software company, he guided the company to increased bookings from £2M to more than £50M over a five year period before a successful exit was achieved with the company being purchased by Warburg Pincus.
Peter’s early career was spent with General Electric Information Services and Hewlett Packard. He then spent a very successful 9 years with Sequent Computer Systems, where he last served as SVP of WW Field Operations based in Portland, Oregon. Following his return to the UK he was a Partner in KPMG Consulting before moving into the start-up market.
Peter holds an honours degree in Physics from the University of Aston.
