Applies to: All versions of Zorp and ZCV
Summary
Database updates for the VirusBuster engine 4.2 are available only until 28th February, 2007. Upgrade the VirusBuster engine before this date to version 4.3 to ensure continuous operation.
Solution
Upgrade your Zorp and update the VirusBuster engine. Complete the following steps:
- Login to the Zorp host from a local console, or remotely via SSH.
Upgrade Zorp if needed. The Zorp components listed in the table below support both versions of the VirusBuster engine. Ensure that you are running a Zorp version listed below, or a newer one.
Product
Version
Zorp 2.1
2.1.12-1
Zorp 3.0
3.0.14b
Zorp 3.1
3.1.9b
ZCV 3.1
3.1.7a
Check that the following apt source is present in /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb ftp://ftp.virusbuster.hu/linux/debian virusbuster main
Upgrade the VirusBuster engine by issuing the following commands as root:
# apt-get update # apt-get install libvbengine4.3
NOTE: These commands remove the old engine and database file (i.e. the libvbengine4 and libvbengine4-data packages) and install the new engine. The new VirusBuster engine does not use the libvbengine4-data package anymore, it supports incremental database upgrades, so instead of downloading the whole database package at an update, it only downloads parts of the database.
The database is automatically updated by the zavupdate script in Zorp/ZCV 3.1, and the vbupgrade.sh script in Zorp 3.0 and earlier.
