Applies to: All versions of Zorp
Introduction
Log messages contain important information for troubleshooting and are required for BOSS support requests. This article describes how to filter and save Zorp log messages using ZMC.
Solution
To extract the relevant logs using ZMC, complete the steps below.
- Start ZMC and login to ZMS.
Select the problematic host and click the View logs icon in the icon bar. Wait until ZMC retrieves the current log file from the host.
Click Follow to monitor the logs in real-time.
- Reproduce the error.
Click Export and save the log messages into a text file.
- Attach the file to your BOSS support request.
If the log does not show any error messages, increase the log level of Zorp to 6 or 7. In extreme situations, it might be needed to increase the log level to 9. (9 is the highest level; Zorp uses level 3 by default.) Complete the following steps to increase the log level:
- Start ZMC and login to ZMS.
Navigate to the Zorp component of the problematic host.
Select the Log level item of the Actions button located below the instance list.
- Increase the log level.
- Repeat the first procedure to create logs of the error.

Very large log files (a result of large traffic and/or high log level) are sometimes easier to handle from the command line. For details see
